Himalayas Adventure Trek (Shethidhar Peak) SEFE - Oct 2009

Shethidhar peak (5358m) is located in the Beas Kund Valley in Himachal Pradesh. The only access route is from the Beas Kund itself and the route is generally safe and covered in ice / snow above 4350m. During peak summer, the ice is exposed and technical skills are required for summit of this peak. Snowfall sets in around early October and ascent is easier, but roping up is must due to the steep gradient.

The approach route is from Solang town whish is about 12 kms to the North of Manali. Climbers can set base camp at Bakharthach (3270m) and set-up summit camp at about 4670 m. Mules do not go beyond Bakharthach and porters can be employed for the summit camp logistics.

28 people from UK participated in the AESP between 31st August 2009 and 10th September 2009. The primary objective of this expedition was to raise funds for Sankara Eye Hospital. A sum of 35,000 British pounds has been raised by this team lead by Mr. Jayesh Patel.
